I have a question about cleaning my central AC to prevent freeze up. Half the unit is in a box in the attic?

tiedyedude asked:

There is a coil with cooling fins that looks like a radiator. Is this the part that needs the backside cleaned? The backside is not made to be accessible, it is inside a duct made of fiberglass. I assume it must be the cold air return since the squirrel cage blows into a duct on the opposite side of the AC box. Should I cut into the duct to clean the coil, then patch it closed?
More info, the AC filter is cleaned, and the outside part of the unit is also free of blockages. I think the drain is clear (now). After it overflowed last night and filled a light fixture below the AC unit I blew into the outside end of the the drain hose and felt the resistance to my air flow bubble then clear away. I can blow into the outside end of the drain now without feeling resistance to the airflow. I have ****** up the little bit of water in the overflow tray in the attic and the inside end of the drain hose is clear.
Anything else I should know that I don’t know enough to ask about?
Thanks for any help you can give.
